There’s something so thrilling about collecting hoards of makeup. Why do I need 30 different matte pink lipsticks? Why did I let the lady at Ulta convince me to buy $30 concealer? And are all five of my foundation brushes seriously dirty?!
I love reading reviews and getting the opinions of others on makeup. And I’m the kind of person that loves to try out new things, so if it’s a must have or staple in my makeup bag, it’s really a special find. Today, I’m sharing my 5 makeup essentials you need to add to your routine. I have to warn you if you’re a full face queen, 1. teach me and 2. you might be very disappointed in this post. 95% of the time I’m going with a very natural look, so no full coverage smoky eye looks here… maybe next time! I’m excited to share so we’re jumping right in.
1. Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup
This is my favorite summer go-to foundation. I switch around a lot because my skin type changes with the seasons, but this is a very neutral makeup that seems to do well with my varying skin types. I get this in the color pasty white ghost (actually 2.0). If you’re interested in hearing a comparison of my growing foundation collection, please let us know in the comments!
2. Tarte Shape Tape Concealer
Yes, I know I said that I do a very natural look. And yes, I am also aware this is one of the heaviest concealers on the market. For a long time I struggled to find a balance with my foundation between full coverage and not looking cakey, I finally found that it comes in getting a medium coverage foundation and a full coverage concealer. Let me tell you, a little goes a long way with this guy. If you’ve done any makeup soul searching online you’ve absolutely heard of this little guy. And this one I get in the shade Casper the friendly contour (fair). Beauty gurus on YouTube told me to go lighter and I listened, and I was wrong to do that. Go with your shade, unless you do a lot of highlighting and/or you know what you’re doing. I do not. BUT, I have found mixing just a wee bit of my foundation with this keeps the coverage without making it obvious where you covered.
3. PurMinerals Mineral Blush
For some reason, when I first got into prestige makeup I was heavy into purminerals and bareminerals. I can’t tell you why. But, this little guy has stood the test of time and has obviously seen better days. This is in the color Copper Sienna, which is such a beautiful color with great pigment but not so much that you look like Raggedy Ann. I have had this exact same blush for 5-6 years and it is probably definitely expired but I love it and haven’t even looked at another blush since. I’m also scared to look for it because it might not be sold anymore in which case I am stepping out of the makeup game for good. The best thing to do is pretend your problems don’t exist, right?
This is where I would include a “buy it” link, but my worst fears have come true and I can’t find this blush anywhere. I don’t wanna talk about it, I’m not okay.
4. Sei Bella 3-in-1 Brown Pencil
This little guy is magic. My eyebrows are mostly intact (meaning I basically just fill in) and this is perfect for the job. You’ve maybe never heard of Sei Bella, but they are a makeup line by Melaleuca and have a ton of great items – many of which you can find in my collection (setting powder, matte lipsticks, eyeshadow pallets…). This is a 3-in-1; it has a little spoolie brush, a defined brow pencil, and some kind of spongey powder thing that I like to use at the thickest part of my eyebrows. It makes it super easy to do my brows in a pinch, because I really don’t like to spend more than 5-10 minutes on my makeup. Call it a lazy girl’s makeup routine!
5. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
This is a new one to my makeup bag. Mascara is very love-hate with me, it’s my favorite product but I hate putting it on. I am very picky with it but I also think there’s no reason for you to buy the expensive brands. Mascara is one of those things that drugstore brands have mastered. Lash sensational comes in many different formulas and brushes, so I can almost bet there’s one for you. I prefer the “Full Fan Effect” because I hate when my lashes stick together, but the choice is up to you!

Tried the mascara! It’s my new favorite! ❤️
